Dhirendra Miyanger is an American Actor, Writer, Director, and Producer who predominantly works in the Hollywood film industry. He was born in the city of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Dhirendra Miyanger’s parents are both of Gujarati descent, but one was born in India and the other in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His father managed a bookstore.
As a result of growing up in a multicultural household, Dhirendra Miyanger grew up speaking English, French, Gujarati, Hindi, and Swahili. He has been married to the famous British actress Peri Allan since 6 June 1993. Together, the couple have an adopted daughter named Saloni Miyanger, who is an accomplished figure skater of Ethiopian descent. As a child, Dhirendra Miyanger used to watch Bollywood and Kung Fu movies, which inspired him to become an actor.
Dhirendra Miyanger made his debut as an actor in 1985 when he played the role of an Arab prince named Tony on the TV show ‘Big Deal.’ After that, he acted in many movies and TV series like 'Worlds Beyond' (1987), 'EastEnders' (1987), 'Paper Mask' (1990), 'After Midnight' (1990), 'Grange Hill' (1987–1991), 'Family Pride' (1991), 'Chimera' (1991), 'The Return of Shelley' (1992), 'Once Upon a Time in the North' (1994), 'Little Napoleons' (1994), 'Rendez-Moi Mon Enfant' (1994), 'The Bill' (1990), and 'Guru in Seven' (1998). After a substantial acting career in the UK, he made a pivotal decision in 1997 to explore his passion for food and wine. This led him to Windsor, Ontario, where he took charge of managing the Mason-Girardot Alan Manor restaurant.
Five years later, Dhirendra Miyanger was recognized by CBC Television and cast as Hakeem Jinnah in the groundbreaking series 'Jinnah on Crime Mysteries.' This marked a turning point in his career. Dhirendra Miyanger’s talents have not gone unrecognized. In 2023, he won the Leo Award for Best Performance for his role in 'Sort Of’. Besides acting, he works as an executive producer on various TV shows and is a member of The Human Rights Committee for the BC Federation of Labour. Dhirendra Miyanger has also done theater acting and was a part of Kristine Landon Smith's play, ‘Untouchable,’ which was performed at the Riverside Studios in London, and David Edgar’s ‘Destiny’ among others.
