Derek Webster was born in Bakersfield, California where he was raised by both his parents along with his brothers and sisters. Derek had been enamored with films all his life growing up. He won several awards for his theatre performances and he also went on to direct and produce some theatre shows.

He made his professional acting debut as a lead actor in 1993 in the Class of 96 when he played the role of Derek in a TV movie.
