Kanni Raasi is scripted and directed by Muthukumaran. The film has “Vimal” and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in lead roles. Shameem Ibraham produced the film. “Pandiarajan,” Kaali Venkat, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar, “Shakeela,” “Chaams,” PV Chandramouli and Anisha Seena are in the cast. The music composition is by Vishal Chandrasekhar. Selvakumar cranked the camera and editing is by Raja Mohammad.

Thiruvengadam is a person whose family had seen only love marriages. Three of his sons fell in love and married girls from a different religious background. His youngest son, Geminiganesan, hates love and wants to have an arranged marriage. Anjali, the daughter of DGP, enters into his life. She fell in love with Gemini, but he didn’t accept her love. What is Anjali’s plan to marry Gemini? The answer forms the rest of the story.

Star Performance

The stars seem to have performed what the director expected from them.

The characterization is not gripping and so does the screenplay. The film comes with predictable scenes and average performances. Yogi Babu, who has impressed the audiences with his casual performance, cool dialogue delivery and flexible body language, failed to impress the people, as his character is not written well. Comedy didn’t work out all, and this is a great blow to the film. Being a comedy film, people expect something fresh from the team. Repeated comedy scenes from the hit films irked the audience. The songs are average and the camera work is neat.

What’s There?

  • Huge star cast

What’s Not There?

  • Illogical scenes and weak screenplay
  • Half-baked characterization and execution
  • Unimpressive comedy

The film that had been waiting for a long time is out now. But, it didn’t impress the audience much. If the comedy scenes with Yogi Babu had been shaped out well, the movie might have got a decent number of visitors to the theatre!
