Yugabharathi is an Indian lyricist and poet. He specializes in writing Tamil poems and Tamil songs. He was born in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Yugabharathi completed his Matriculation from Maxwell Matriculation Higher Secondary School. He also has a Diploma in Engineering from Government Polytechnic College. He started his career as a poet in early 90’s and wrote poems for various Tamil magazines. He changed his name to Yugabharathi to honor his idol Subramanya Bharathi. He started his career as a lyricist with the movie Aanandham. He wrote lyrics for Pallankuzhiyin in the movie. After that, he wrote lyrics for many songs. His first work as a successful lyricist came out in the year 2002 in the movie Run. He wrote the song Kadhal Pisase, which became a huge hit. In 2003, he wrote songs for the movie Vasiya Kaari and Manmadha Raasa. In the year 2004, he went back to writing poems for magazines.
But 2005, was the year of Yuga Bharathi. He wrote more than five songs for different movies. Some of his mentionable work that year was Maayavi in the movie Devaloga Rani and Sandakozhi in Dhavanipotta Deepavali. Yugabharathi’s songs were liked by everyone and were even acclaimed by the critics. Because of his success in the film industry, he drifted apart from the poems and started writing songs for Tamil movies. His career as a lyricist was at the peak in the year 2014 when he became the most demanded song writer. He wrote more than 15 songs that year, which include Onnuna Rendu, Kandangi Selai & En Anbe. Some of his latest work include lyrics for Athaadi Yenna Solla, Usrey Nee, Anantha Thendral & Kudiya Vedu in Mahabalipuram. He is currently working on two projects named Rani Murugan and Anjala, which are set to release this year.
