Kalyani Nair is a singer originally from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She lives in Chennai and is a part of the Tamil Cinema Industry. She made her debut on television in an episode of The Symphony on Kairali T.V. She is an undergraduate Economics student at Ethiraj College for Women at Chennai (Tamil Nadu). Her father Colonel U.G Kumar, an Indian Army Officer, was very often transferred to many places across India. This worked as an advantage to her as she got the opportunity to train herself in Hindustani Music.

Her teacher Binny Krishna Kumar admired her for her beautiful and soulful voice and often said that she would reach great heights for her talents. She has sung various songs in the Tamil and Telugu music industry, her one of the most popular song being Dora Dora Anne Dora’ from the movie ‘Maasilamani.’ Apart from Tamil and Telugu industries, she has also recently sung a Bollywood song ‘Dhuaan Hai Dhuaan Zindagi’ for the film ‘ Saala Khadoos.’ She is married to V Pradeep Kumar, who was her Co-singer in many of her songs.

Born on 8th June, 1986 to parents Thirumala Shahul and Rehma in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Najim Arshad is a famous Indian playback singer working in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil film industries. His father is a retired administrative officer from Vigilance Department while his mother is a music teacher. He has two brothers one is a doctor, and the other is an engineer. He feels proud to say that both of them are musicians too. He has been undergoing training in Carnatic music vocal under Gurunathan Sri H. Raja in S.S.T College of Music since 1995 and in violin by Sri Rathinam and Sri Kadanad Haridas. Najim rose to fame after winning the 2nd season of Idea Star Singer 2007. He debuted as a playback singer in 2007 in Mission 90 Days which is a Malayalam film. He is known for his collaboration with all music composers in Malayalam film industry. As a music lover, Najim is committed to music and is highly obliged to his parents, teachers and others for their support and blessings. Some of his famous albums include Diamond Necklace, Onnum Parayaathe, Meghamalhar, I’m  here, Doctor Love, Red Wine, and Casanova. He received awards from Mangalam Publications film awards for the best male singer, EFA Award for the voice of the year in 2015 and the best singer by Kerala film critics association in 2013. He, however, says that awards do not help in career growth, but experience does. Najim received enormous appreciation after his performance in the 10th season of Amrita Film Awards which is a prestigious film award of Malayalam cinema on 20th December, 2014. He also got to work with famous Malayalam personalities like  Jassie Gift, Vini Thomas, etc. In leisure time, Najim loves writing lyrics, composing music and innovating new styles in music. Shan Johnson

Shan Johnson was a young music director and singer. He had contributed in Malayalam and Tamil movies as a songwriter. Her first movie as a composer was ‘His Name is John’. She has given many live performances and was a part of the music band ‘The Sound Bulb’ which was established by her with her friends. She was born in Chennai to Johnson and Rani Johnson. Her father Johnson was a music composer and had composed many songs for Malayalam movies. He had won the National award for his work in the industry. Her father died of a heart attack in 2011. In 2012, she lost her brother Renn who met with a bike accident. She was a well-trained singer and had good knowledge which she had taken from her father. She used to compose songs for Malayalam movies. During her father’s death, he was working on four movies as a music composer. His projects were completed by Shan. She gave music for ‘His Name is John’ directed by T John. She had written the lyrics of the song ONV Kurup, which was sung by ONV Kurup, Aparna Rajeev, and Nikhil Mathew. The song was a huge hit and one of the chartbusters of that year. She has even worked in Hindi movies as a lyricist. She gave songs for movies like ‘Thira’ by Vineeth Sreenivasan. She was trained vocalist in Western and Carnatic music. She had sung songs like ‘Praise The Lord,’ ‘Paravai’ and ‘Engeyum Eppothum.’ She had written the song ‘Raavumaayave’ for the latest Malayalam ‘Vettah’ movie by Rajesh Raman Pillai starring Manju Warrier and Kunchacko Boban. She was a part of musical band ‘Sound Bulb’ which was established by her with her friends. The band had given the song Manasin Madiyile, which was a tribute to Renn, her brother who died due to a bike accident. She died on 5 Feb 2016, in her Chennai apartment due to a heart attack. Her body was also taken to her native place in Thrissur, and buried beside her brother and father. The industry showed their sadness on losing a good young talent. Shan Johnson, a singer who died on 5th February 2016 in a hotel in Chennai, India due to a massive heart attack at the young age of 29 years, was working in Chennai and living in flat in Kodambakkam. Her father was Johnson, a music composer, and director, also regarded by the name “Johnson Master” was a winner of National Award for Best Background score in 1994. She began her career in the industry as an assistant to music composer to G Devarajan in her early 20’s, and her first independent song came in the form of Aavaram. She composed songs for around 300 Malayalam movies. Shan Johnson got indulged in music in the early age because of her father, and he was her teacher as well. He guided her throughout her life as long as he lived. She had a god gifted voice. Other than this she also worked as Marketing head at City Mall, Chennai. She had lost her brother in 2012 and after losing her father in 2011, she used to live with her mother. She began her career in the year 2013 as a music composer with the Malayalam film called “His Name Is John.” She also gave songs for the music in the movies “ Praise The Lord” which released in 2014 and in other Tamil movies, all of which were hits. She used to write her own songs and used to sing them, and most of them are Western music or Carnatic music. She also wrote a song with Hindi lyrics for the movie called Vettah. She reached her home on 4th February 2016, thursday at 9.30 pm after the recording. She was supposed to travel to Kochi with her mother, and her mother was at their relatives house in Mylapore. Her mother tried calling her, and when she didn’t pick it up even after many attempts, she informed her friends and asked them to reach her out. Her friends went to her place and informed the police when she didn’t respond to any of the door bells and knockings. Police after arriving there broke the door and entered the room. She was lying on her bed, and there was nothing which indicated murder or suicide. The body was sent for postmortem and doctors declared her dead due to a heart attack. She was suffering from medical problems as well and was using regular medication. Her body was buried with the bodies of her Father and Brother in Thrissur Nellikkunnu St. Sebastian Church, Thrissur. We will remember her always because of her great songs that she has given to us. May her soul rest in peace.
