Bollywood is considered the leading industry among the Indian film industries. Bollywood industry is a vast industry and hence many stars like to play in Hindi movies. Many stars in the Bollywood industry are from various other states and in this article, we will see some of the Bollywood Dream Girls from the South Indian movie industry.

Vyjayanthimala

Vyjayanthimala is one of the versatile actresses in the Indian film industry, who excelled in the southern as well as Bollywood industries. Born and brought up in Madras, she is a versatile dancer, singer and even a choreographer. Besides this, she is a parliamentarian too. It is to be noted that she is the first actress from the South to register her presence in Bollywood. She is the first non-Hindi native star to set a huge fan base in Bollywood.

Hema Malini

Hema Malini is still addressed as the Dream Girl of Bollywood. She was born into a Tamil family in Ammankudi, a village near Thanjavur in Tamilnadu. This ever-beautiful actress is said to have been rejected in the south but got a super-duper future in Bollywood. She is married to “Dharmendra” and has two children, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Rekha

“Rekha” is one of the notable actresses from the South. She is the daughter of a popular Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan. She was born and brought up in Madras. Rekha has a sister Radha. Rekha made her debut in Telugu films as a child artist and then in 1970, she made her debut in Hindi with Navin. The rest is a history.

Sridevi

“Sridevi,” the established actress in the South, made it big in Bollywood and impressed the Bollywood fans. She was born in a small village, Meenampatti, near Sivakasi in Tamilnadu. Her father is from Tamilnadu and her mother is a Telugu actress. She made her debut as a child artist at the age of 4 in 1967. In 1976, she debuted as the heroine with “Rajinikanth” and Kamal Haasan starrer, Moondru Mudichu, directed by K Balachander. She had featured in all the southern languages. In 1979, she made her Bollywood debut with Solva Sawan, the remake of 16 Vayathinile directed by Bharathiraja. After a few years, opportunities started showering and she was the dream girl in the 80s and early 90s in Bollywood.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai, who was born in Mangalore, had been one of the leading actresses in Bollywood. After grabbing the Miss World title, she was showered with a lot of opportunities. Although she was a Dream Girl in Bollywood, she made her debut in 1997 with a Tamil film, “Iruvar” with “Mohanlal” directed by Mani Ratnam, her favorite director.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player, Prakash Padukone is the dream girl of Bollywood fans. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and brought up in Bangalore. Her paternal grandfather is also a badminton player and her sister Anisha is a golfer. She was also a badminton player and represented her state at the national level. She made her film debut in 2006 in the film Aishwarya with Upendra Rao, the popular Kannada actor. In 2007, she got the opportunity to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan and the film garnered her appreciation and won the Best Actress Award from Filmfare. She also made her Hollywood entry and has been in the top position in Bollywood with few movies waiting for release.
