Plot
Kasi is the only city in 2898 AD. It is ruled by God King Supreme Yaskin. The city has a megastructure, an inverted pyramid named Complex. Yaskin resides there and rules the city. Bhairava, the bounty hunter tries to enter the Complex. Yaskin established a fertility lab, and many women were tested. Among those women, Sumathi is considered the right candidate for Yaskin’s biggest experiment. While Bhairava plans to enter the Complex, Ashwathama wishes to save Sumathi from Yaskin. Bhairava assures Ashwathama to save Sumathi. Who is Sumathi? Why did Ashwathama aim to protect Sumathi? Will Bhairava save her? What will be Yaskin’s reaction? The rest of the story deals with all these.
Star Performance
Prabhas looks fantastic and performs well in action scenes. Though a couple of miss-outs in his previous attempts after “Baahubali,” this film will surely get him back on track. Amitabh Bachchan is neat in his role. Deepika is simple and neat. Kamal is wonderful with his performance. His body language is excellent, and his shades of grey take us to his Aalavandan times. He is versatile and nothing more to discuss his performance. The rest of the stars are good in the given roles.
Analysis
The story is quite decent. The first half mainly focuses on establishing the characters. Nag Ashwin has taken time to establish the characters, and it is pretty slow. The first half should have some gripping scenes. The characters are well-developed and the stars are perfect for the given characters. Prabhas’ intro scene is shot well and it will be a treat for his fans.

should be appreciated for her voice-over to Bujji, the AI companion of Bhairava. There should have been some more scenes to speak about Bhairava and Bujji. The scenes between the Big B and Prabhas are fantastic. Deepika’s character is finely made, and this is a decent debut for the actress in Telugu. Kamal’s makeup is one of the highlights. He is unrecognizable. After Dasavatharam, he has taken this new avatar with prosthetics. Prabhas and Disha’s chemistry is not very attractive. Those scenes are not engaging.
The cameos are fine and the stars add value to the film. Rajamouli…. When did you enter? This is a surprising one, man! The action choreography is fantastically designed. The second half is filled with action sequences and they are eye-catching. The visuals are stunning with high-quality VFX. The climax scene ends with a big twist and makes us expect a sequel. Santosh Narayanan’s BGM is fantastic, elevating the intense scenes well.

Verdict
Kalki is definitely an exciting watch, despite its shortcomings with the screenplay in the first half. A big star cast with a finely designed VFX is really a treat to watch!
