Plot
Kayalvizhi lives in Valluvanpettai, a beautiful village. She works in a bank and is admired for her Hindi opposition. She is a writer, too. Kayal writes under the pseudonym Ka Pandian. Her writings inspired Tamilselvan, an engineer. Kayal, who is very much affectionate to her family, agrees to get married, as her grandpa’s days are being counted due to cancer. Attracted by Tamilselvan’s ideals, she agrees to marry him. But, soon, Kayal finds out that what she understood about Selvan was not his original character. The lady, who is against the Hindi imposition, now decides to write Hindi exam. Which led her to do this? What happened to her marriage with Tamilselvan? The rest of the film explores these.
Star Performance
Keerthy is one of the finest actors in the Indian cinema. At times, her choice of films disappoints her and us. This time, her efforts didn’t go in vain. Unlike her previous films like Sarkaru Vaaru Paata, which showed her only as a template heroine, Raghu Thatha helped her to howcase her potential. Though this may not be her best like “Mahanati,” Keerthy’s performance excels. Devadarshini is good in her role as Alamelu Maami. Her body language and expressions are stunning, as usual. Ravindra Vijay fit in the role well. His makeup and costume remind us of the perfect ‘70s youngster. MS Bhaskar and Ismath Bhanu are good in their roles. Rajeev Ravindranathan did a decent job as Ashish.
Analysis
The film is set in the early 60s-70s. The art director and his team have done a good job. An excellent work by the costume designer and team. Hombale Films should be appreciated for taking up this project after pan-Indian high-budget films. Initailly, we may feel that the film has lesser-known artists, except for Keerthy, MS Bhaskar, and Devadarshini. As the story moves, we get attached to the plot and the characters. The director Suman should be appreciated for picking up this story and the cast. The comedy elements work a lot. Whether it is for Devadarshini or MS Bhaskar, the single-word comedy and the expressions are taken much care. Kudos to the director and his assistants. Ismath Bhanu’s role is one of the appreciable roles and it is written well. The dialogues given to all the stars are perfect. The BGM is so fantastic. It gels well with the scenes and makes us enjoy the film throughout. The film also has some negative points here and there. But, we don’t care for them as we are glued to the seats by the screenplay, dialogues, and performances.

Verdict
Despite the slow first half, the film manages to attract the audience for its screenplay, performances, dialogues, and execution. Whether you are a Keerthy’s adorer or not, you can watch this film once for the teamwork!
