Plot
Dr. Chandrashekhar Rao is a successful surgeon in London. He is also a content family man, with two sons reaching the marriageable age. However, one unfulfilled desire remains: to reunite with his estranged parents. The moment his elder son Abhiram realizes it, he decides to do the unthinkable: enter the household of Balaraju, and slowly make his way into the family. Will Abhiram and his young brother Bangari make it?
Star Performances
Sameer Reddy can pat his back for making a visually appealing drama. Each scene is less of a camera shot, and more like a lively canvas.
While Ram Charan may or may not have packed a punch, the supporting cast has done so. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha as the elderly couple leave a lasting impression. So does Srikanth the younger of the two brothers.
Analysis
A dutiful son out to fulfill the unrequited desire of his father. Initially finds it tough but eventually becomes a part of the joint family. However, multiple obstacles await the hero before he eventually reunites his parents with their estranged family. Hmmm, haven’t we heard this before?
Well, that’s every tenth commercial potboiler ever made in India. ‘Ram Leela’ is no exception. The first half takes a bit too long in character building, and at times, it is not fascinating either. Some of the scenes will even make you wonder whether you signed up for a family entertainer or not.
If you’re not a fan of gravity-defying stunts or logic-defying sequences, whether in action or emotion, you can avoid this film for good. Ironically, it is the supporting cast, who must ensure that this film does not sink midway. While Ram Charan has improved of late in terms of acting, ‘Ram Leela’ is not the experience you’re looking forward to.

Verdict
‘Ram Leela’ could’ve been another commercial hit from Krishna Vamsi. However, the wrong choice of script, followed by not-so-impressive performances from the lead makes it an average affair. Only the performances of the supporting cast, especially that of Prakash Raj and Jayasudha somehow salvage this film.
