Plot
Girija and Inba are siblings. After a decade of marriage, Girija gets pregnant, and the entire family is happy and celebrates the kid after its birth. Nilan grows as a prince, as everyone at home cares for him too much, especially his maternal uncle, Inba. Nilan never leaves his uncle, and this doesn’t create a problem for anyone, until Inba gets married to the gynaecologist, Rekha. Rekha doesn’t get any private space with her husband, as Nilan is always with Inba. When her feelings are opened up, the relationship faces troubles. Will Inba leave Rekha for Nilan? The rest of the film showcases this.
Star Performance
Performance-wise, everyone is good in their roles, right from Aishwarya Lekshmi and Soori, Swasika and Baba Bhasker to Rajkiran and Viji. Everyone has performed according to the character’s needs.

, where Nadhiya doesn’t like Vishal’s closeness towards Prabhu. But, in Thamirabharani, we saw Rohini trying to get her son from her brother Prabhu, as it may disturb his sister-in-law’s privacy. That’s a valid point, but that’s missing in Maaman. Too much affection will spoil the kids, which is not highlighted in Maaman, where they showcase only the affection and not the side effects. Also, the kid uses disrespectful terms against the elders; none stops him and advise him. When Rekha speaks about the hyperactivity of Nilan, Girija can’t accept it and yells at her. Though these may appear as a maturity level of each person, it didn’t appeal well, as everyone hypes up the child, and doesn’t correct his wrongs. The over-the-top activities of a child are shown as childish and cute, which irks us. Treating a person, whether a man or a woman, doesn’t lie in the words, but they shouldn’t be hurt physically and mentally, which is missing in this film. Technically, the movie is good. The cinematography, editing, and BGM are good.
