Sameer is an Indian Lyricist. He writes songs for the Hindi Cinema. His real name is Shitala Pandey. However, he is fondly called Rajan. He was born on 24th February in 1958 in a small town near Banaras, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his studies from Banaras Hindu University which is situated in Varanasi. He earned a post-graduation degree in Master of Commerce. Following his post-graduation, he started working for Central Bank of India as a Bank Officer. Although, after only a few days, he left his job because he didn’t have a knack for banking. In the year 1980, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his career as a lyricist. He started his journey as a lyricist in the year 1983 with the flick Bekhabar. The first film song written and recorded by him was Maar Ke Kataaree Mar Jaibe.

The Bhojpuri song was from the movie Bairi Saawan in the year 1984 and was sung by Suresh Wadkarand and Preeti Sagar. Sameer gained prominence and recognition in the year 1990 with his songs for blockbusters like Aashiqui and Dil. He won a Filmfare for Nazar Ke Saamne from the formerfilm. He rose and grew as a lyricist in the upcoming decades, writing for about 500 Hindi Cinema flicks which sum to over 4000 songs. Sameer said that his inspirations are Anand Bakshi and Majrooh Sultanpuri. He is very grateful to his father and gives credit of all his success to him. Sameer won two more Filmfare Awards in consecutive years 1993 and 1994 for songs from Deewana and Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke. He has also won a Zee Cine Award for the flick Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

He has given lyrics for songs of movies like Coolie No. 1, Raja Babu, Anjaam, Raja Hindustani, Dhadkan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Devdas, Raaz, Ishq Vishq, Tere Naam, Dhoom 2, Race, Saawariya, Son Of Sardaar, Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg 2, Houseful 2 and more. Sameer’s father is the famous Lyricist Lalji Pandey, popularly know as Anjaan. Sameer is married to Anita Pandey. They have two daughters – Suchita and Sanchita and one son named Siddhesh. His mother is Indira Pandey, who lives with Sameer’s family. In the year 2007, writer Derek Bose wrote a biography on Sameer. The book was called “Sameer- A Way with Words.” On 17th February 2016, Sameer was awarded the honour of the Guinness World Record for being the Lyricist of maximum number of songs. He also holds the record for writing the most number of movie songs. In the year 2010, he informed about his future associations with Tumblr. He nurtures and reviews young artists and their artwork on social media platforms.

Anand Bakshi was an old poet and lyricist with his popularity in the Hindi film industry. Anand Bakshi He was born in Rawalpindi, a part of India in 1930 which later got converted into a Pakistan city after independence in 1947. His mother died when he was five years old. Due to the partition of India and Pakistan, on October 2, 1947, Bakshi’s family shifted themselves to Delhi. Initially, Bakshi was in the Indian Army after completing his studies. In the free time, he used to write songs occasionally while working for the army. Bakshi initially tried to become a writer or a singer in the Hindi films, but later he found his talent in writing songs. His first entry into movies as a lyricist was “Bhaala Aadmi” which cast the famous old actor “Bhagwan Dada” in it. He made his first success in the year in the movie “Mehendi Lagi Meri Haath.” His another project in 1962 was “KalaSamundar”. He had written lyrics for the two big hit movies in the year 1965 namely “Himalaya Ki God Mein” and “Jab Jab Phool Khile.” In 1967, he wrote songs for the hit movie “Milan” in which Sunil Dutt was the hero. In 1972, he got a chance to sing songs in the movie “Mom Ki Gudiya” which was directed by Mohan Kumar. He also sang for further four movies namely “Sholay,” “Maha Chor,” “Charas,” “ Balika Badhu” which got released during the years 1975 – 1976. Anand Bakshi got Heart and lung disease as a result of chain smoking. At the age of 72, Anand Bakshi died due to multiple organ failures. His Last lyrics were for the film “Mehbooba” which was produced during the year 2000 but released in the year 2008. Throughout his career, Bakshi has written 3500 songs for 638 movies, which is not an ordinary man’s work. He could be a legend who still lives in the form of his songs. His Grandson namely Aditya Dutt is a film director who has directed nearly seven movies as of 2016. His works include projects like Yaadein, Mohabbattein, Taal, Dushman, Heer Raanjha, Pardes, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohra, Hum, Nagin, Dharam Veer, Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke,Aye Din Bahar Ke, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Jeene Ki Raah, Aradhana, Amar Prem and Bobby. After his death in 2002, he was survived by Kamala Mohan Bakshi, his wife and his two sons and two daughters namely Rakesh Bakshi, Rajesh Bakshi, Kavita Bali and Suman Datt.
