Plot
The movie follows a middle-class family that had to resort to creative ways to scam a scammer into returning what was rightfully theirs. The film occurs New Delhi where, Kamal Kishore Khosla lives with his family. To accommodate his growing family Kamal wishes to construct a new house. He uses his savings to buy a plot of land in South Delhi. Everything was going according to plan for Kamal, or so he thought. His property dealer, Vijendar had ties to a shady businessman, Kishen Khurana. Together they try to extort more money from him.
Kamal is not one to take any abuse lying down. With the help of his sons Bunty and Cheery, Cherry’s girlfriend Meghna, and travel agent Asif Iqbal Kamal was able to take his revenge. They could fool Khurana into investing in a fake deal. In the end, Khurana’s superiority complex led to his downfall. Munjal one of Khurana’s assistants, realizes that his boss is being scammed. After hearing his boss bad-mouth him behind his back, Munjal decides to bite his tongue. Kamal used the money he scammed from Khurana to release his plot of land back to him. With that, Kamal was finally able to build his dream home.
Star Performance
Anupam Kher brought his character to life in a very relatable way. Kamal Kishore Khosla is someone any middle-class family man in India can relate to. Boman Irani was able to portray the antagonist Kishen Khurana ideally, which is praiseworthy. Parvin Dabas played the role of Kamal’s older son Cherry and Ranvir Shorey played Kamal’s younger son Bunty. They shine in their roles as children of a middle-class family having to carry the hopes and dreams of the previous generation on their shoulders all the while they try to find their place in this world.
Analysis
Khosla Ka Ghosla is a film that depicts the woes of the lives of people in the lower middle class of India. The story surrounds a Family Man who falls for a scam. In the first Half of the movie, we see Kamal and Cherry having a falling. However, when his family needed him, Cherry put his differences behind him and did whatever was best for his family. The film does a fantastic job of highlighting Indian family values. Usually, the antagonists in Indian cinema lack depth. However, Boman Irani brought out the essence of Kishen Khurana, making him stand out in the film. Kishen Khurana is a villain we loved to hate.
