Rushi Sharma is a costume designer popular in the Bollywood film industry. She studied Fashion Designing at the National institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi. In the beginning of her career, she worked as a costume designer in theatre. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Central Saint Martins University of Arts in London. Rushi and Manoshi concentrated on recycling materials in their costume designs. To ensure authenticity in the movie PK, they even bought clothes directly from the people on the streets of Rajasthan. They made their entire creative process sustainable.
They source fabrics directly from weavers and artisans to promote ethical design. They have also provided jobs with higher wages to cottage industry workers. Rushi and Manoshi believe in buying locally. In 2022, they traveled through Kutch for the movie Jayeshbhai Jordaar. While traveling, they created supply chains for future projects like Maja Ma. In 2023, Rushi and Manoshi were awarded the Elle Sustainability Award for Mindful Design for their sustainability efforts and SOPs in Indian costume design. They had mentored the students of various institutions like the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
