is a Bollywood romantic movie. The movie dealt with the society's views on pre-martial pregnancy. Kundan Shah is the director of the movie. Honey Irani is the scriptwriter of the film. Honey Irani also dealt with the screenplay. Kumar S Taurani and Ramesh S Taurani are the producers of the movie. Tips Industry is the production partner associated with the movie. Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Chandrachur Singh, Farida Jalal, and Anupam Kher are the main actors involved in the movie. Rajesh Roshan dealt with the film’s music.
Plot
The story revolves around a girl named Priya. She is the sole daughter of Gulshan and Roshini. Priya also has a brother named Vicky and a childhood best friend named Ajay. Ajay secretly loved Priya, but she is unaware of this. Initially, the family’s ties were robust and all were happy. However, Priya graduated from the school, and entered college. There, she met a boy named Rahul. He belonged to a wealthy family. Rahul is also a womanizer and doesn’t respect them. Ajay and Vicky are both suspicious of him. However, Priya started dating Rahul, and they had sex. Priya set up a meet of Rahul and her parents. When Priya’s parents talked Rahul about marriage, he refused to marry Priya. Heartbroken, Priya later finds out that she is pregnant with Rahul’s child. Gulshan again goes to talk to Rahul. He admits that it is his child but doesn’t take any responsibility.
Gulshan asked her to leave the home. However, after being unable to live without her, he calls Priya back. She also joins the university, but she gets mocked by other students. Rahul’s mother was one of the board of directors and urged to expel Priya. At the celebration in the school, a group of student conducted a play. Through the play they mocked Priya’s pregnancy. After this, Priya gave a speech on her unborn child that made the audience cry, including Rahul. He comes to her home to apologize and claim full responsibility for their child. However, Priya’s water broke then and they all left for hospital.
At the celebration of baby’s birthday, Ajay and Rahul proposed Priya. But she only accepts Ajay’s proposal.
Star performance
The main characters of the story are Priya. The whole story revolves around her. Preity Zinta played Priya’s role in the movie. She has delivered a somewhat nuanced performance. Her chemistry with other actors is fantastic and palpable. Zinta perfectly showed Priya as a responsible woman and a brave girl who challenged social taboo. Another important character in the story is Rahul. Saif Ali Khan played his character. Although, in the movie Rahul was not a lovely person. Saif’s acting throughout the film was brilliant. Other characters include Ajay. Chandrachur Singh played his character. Chandrachur’s chemistry with Zinta was top-notch. He has rightly balanced Ajay’s character throughout the movie. The supporting actors of the film are Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Rita Bhaduri, Mamik Singh, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Amit Mistry, Navneet Nishan, and Suresh Chatwal. All of them delivered fantastic performances.
Analysis
Kya Kehna is a fantastic movie. The concept of the movie is brilliant. It also challenges the taboos ideas on pre-martial pregnancy. The plot of the story is also top-notch as it is well structured. However, the execution of the movie could be better, as the film seemed a little outdated. Through cinematography, the filmmakers hinted as if filmmakers shot it in 1980’s. The camera angle was weird. Other than this, the costumes of some actors were good. However, for some actors it didn’t work well. All the characters in general are completely developed and matured. The acting of the main cast and the supporting cast is good. The chemistry between the main protagonists is also brilliant. The film is full of emotional scenes. However, the most impressive thing about this movie is its ending. The filmmakers did justice to all characters. Also the plot of the film is unpredictable. The film’s pace is perfect but the duration is a little lengthy. The soundtrack used in this movie is good, but it is a little outdated.
