PLOT:
The production stage was hugely speculated upon by the media and it was also rumoured that Aishwariya Rai Bachchan would play the lead role along with hubby, Abhishek, but later it was confirmed that KanganaRanaut and Gauhar Khan would play the lead roles. KanganaRanaut plays the role of a British officer and Gauhar Khan is the personal assistant to business tycoon, Kabir Malhotra, who is played by AnupamKher. AnupamKher also plays the role of his twin brother Iqbal Malhotra. BomanIrani, Jimmy Shergill and ShahanaGoswami play important roles as they are prime suspects in an unexpected murder. Abhishek Bachchan plays the role of Neil Menon, a drug lord in Turkey.
ANALYSIS:
The story starts with Kabir Malhotra inviting the four prime suspects of his daughter’s death to his island in Greece. Each one is involved somehow in the killing of his daughter, Maya. Kabir Malhotra writes letter to each one of them, relating to their work, and invites them to his island even though none of them have met each other previously. The four arrive on the island and are received by Samara Shroff, Kabir’s assistant. They are taken to a dining room where they meet Kabir. Unknown to them, they are under surveillance Kabir tells them of their crime and plans to get them arrested the next morning. Out of the four, Tisha Khanna, played by ShahanaGoswami, is the only innocent one. She is called to cover the story of the crime and is also informed that she is the only living descendant of Kabir. Kabir says that he has enough evidence to get each one of them arrested and they all wait for the next morning and the arrival of the International Vigilance Squad (IVS). The next morning, a gunshot is heard and Kabir is found dead. It is ruled as suicide and since the IVS couldn’t find any of the evidence that Kabir was talking about, Sia, the lead IVS officer, played by Ranaut, lets the four go but keeps them all under secret surveillance. Through flashback it is revealed that Neil Menon was actually in love with Maya. He takes revenge for Maya’s murder and tricks Vikram , played by Shergill, and Ramsey, by BomanIrani, to make media confessions which cause Vikram to commit suicide and Ramsey dies of a heart attack. Sia holds Neil responsible for the death of the two. The climax happens when it is revealed that Neil is actually an undercover agent for the IVS and his real name is Arjun Singhania. Now, Arjun and Sian join forces and start investigating and finalise on Tisha as Kabir’s killer, as she was the sole inheriter to his fortune, but when she is also attacked, the case takes a new turn. Arjun finds out that Kabir had a twin brother, Iqbal, who is very sick. To everyone’s shock, it is revealed that Samara, Kabir’s assistant, is Iqbal’s daughter. After clashing with Iqbal, he is killed by Arjun and Samara is arrested.
VERDICT:
The movie failed to impress number wise but the story has been narrated exceptionally well and if action thrillers are your favourite, then you will want to watch this 192 minute movie, even if it was rated two stars.
