Early life Deepa Bhatia completed her post-graduate diploma course in social communications media from Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. Career as a film editor She belonged to the family of multi-talents, who expended their full potential for creating original theme and substance in their work. She is well-known for her role as an editor, director, and producer. She made her debut as an editor while working with eminent director GovindNihalani for his film HazaarChaurasi Ki Maa. She had earlier assisted him in direction when he noticed her talents. From the beginning, she was fascinated by the post-production aspects and got interested in editing. A woman of conviction and discipline, Deepa works in a series of collaboration and solitude by taking up the whole weight of the task at hand, wherein realizing the director’s vision with an added ingredient of creativity; fruitful all the same. She has also edited many songs, beginning with her debut work “Rang De” from the film Thakshak by GovindNihalani, which was choreographed by Saroj Khan.In 2004 she worked on the critically acclaimed movie Dev by GovindNihalani, which was followed by a succession of hit films like TaareZameen Par in 2007, Rock On!! in 2008, My Name Is Khan in 2010, Stanley KaDabba in 2011, Ferrari Ki Sawaari with VidhuVinod Chopra in 2012, Student of the Year in 2012, Kai Po Che in 2013 and her latest work Hawaa Hawaai, which was screened in 2014. Aseem Sinha (also known as Asim Sinha) is an Indian Editor and Director. He completed his training as an editor in 1989 from the Film and Television Institute, Pune. His first flick as an independent editor was Shyam Benegal’s Mammo. He is known for his work in movies like Zubeida, Sardari Begum, Punkuj Parashar’s Beneras, Mehreen Jabbar’s Ramchand Pakistani, Kalpana Lajmi’s Darmiyanan, Shyam Benegal's Well Done Abba, Shyam Benegal's Welcome to Sajjanpur, A. K. Bir’s The Last Vision and Antardwannd. Movies like Ata Pata Laapata and Chalo Dilli are also credited under his name. All these films were critically acclaimed and won tonnes of awards in India and internationally across the globe. Sinha has been very particular in his choices of movies. He has worked for over fifteen years and still is selective about the kind of movies he edits. Money has never deterred him from working on stories he believed in. Directors like Shyam Benegal and Ketan Mehta have made Sinha a constant part of his films. He has assisted Shyam in a lot of movies. Two-time National Award winner Suresh Pai considers Aseem as an elder brother and a mentor. Sinha has made a name for his work in both TV and Cinema. Reporter, Chandrakanta and New Karamchand are some of his recognised TV shows. The show Reporter, edited by Aseem, helped Shekhar Sumar to get a steady start in his career and shot him to fame. Sinha plans on starting a school for Film Editing soon. He has edited more than 50 feature films. Moreover, he has proved his expertise in co-operate films and ads as well. Balwinder Singh – famous ho gya, Zed Plus, Bajatey Raho, Chamki Chameli, Mumbai Cutting, Chalo Dilli and Manoranjan are some of his recent works as an Editor. Zubeidaa (2001) and Haasil (2003) played a huge role in his career. He is currently working on the Jury of the fourth Shaan-e-awadh International Film Festival. He also recently received the award of Best Editor for the flick ‘The Answer’ in France. Paani and 25 years of Subhash Ghai in Hindi Cinema are the two documentaries which Aseem has directed for UNDP and Mukta Arts respectively. According to him, the important thing for an editor is to understand a character and have a mutual understanding with the director. His biggest challenge has been to convince filmmakers of his opinion while re-scripting the script.
