Vaibhavi Merchant is one of the best choreographer of Indian Film Industry. She was born on 17 Dec, 1975 and granddaughter of legendary dance master B.Hiralal. She trained under the guidance of the Late Sushree Madurita Sarangat the age of 5. She learned Bharatnatyam from Shri Rohinton Cama, Western Classical from “Martha Da Cunha”and kathak also by completing Arangetram at the age of 17 which is the end of formal training.
“Dhol Baje” from “

” was her first solo choreographed song which led her to won National Award for the same.
She started her career as a Heroine in South Indian movie ‘Snehapoorvam Anna’ but later moved as an assistant choreographer with her uncle chinni Prakash
Her choreography is versatile which always create new dance forms. Songs like “Kajra Re” from “
Bunty Aur Babli
” (2005) received several awards.
Devdas (2002), Fida, Dhoom, Baghban,
Ek Tha Tiger
are some of the movies that showcased her talent by creating contemporary and classical dance modes.
