Aditi Singh Sharma is an Indian singer, who was born on June 2, 1986 in Delhi and she lived abroad for so many years. She returned to Mumbai while doing her high school to pursue her singing career and made her debut in the romantic black comedy drama, Dev D in the year 2009. She performed her first solo playback song, Yahi Meri Zindagi in the film.
She has been part of various bands including Crimson and Level 9 and as of the present, Aditi is a member of the rock star band Groove Adda, who has been touring around the country to perform. She started playback singing after she met Shankar of the popular musical trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, during the Jack Daniels Rock Awards. She is the host of the event and Ehsaan played her work to
Shankar Mahadevan. That’s when she got her very first recording in Mumbai as she sang Chhoti Si in the High School Musical 2. Later on, Indian film composer and musician
Amit Trivedi attended her gig in Mumbai. Then, she went to his studio to try her voice for a song that was supposed to be sung by a certain singer, but was not in town during that time. This led her to sing for Dev D and there is no looking back since then.
Some of her songs includes Meri Rooh, Dil, Aali Re, Turning 30!!!, Luv Ka The End, Freak Out, Mango, Kho Jaane De, Main Heroine Hoon, Dhat Teri Ki, Pinacolada, Gulcharrey and many more. The songs Choomantar from
Ali Abbas Zafar Mere Brother Ki Dulhan in 2011, I’ll Do the Talking Tonight and Raabta – Night in a Motel from the action spy film
Agent Vinod in 2012, Dhoom Machale Dhoom from the action thriller film Dhoom 3 in 2013 and Offo from the romantic comedy-drama film 2 States in 2014 became very popular.
Besides singing, Aditi is also fond of cooking. Her inspirations in singing were
Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan and
Sunidhi Chauhan. She worked with popular musicians like
Sohail Sen and more. She is looking forward to work with the biggies in the film music industry like AR Rahman, Salim-Sulaiman, Vishal-Shekhar,
Vishal Bhardwaj and Sachin-Jigar.
This year, she sang the songs Shaadi Wali Night from the recently released film
Calendar Girls and Saturday Night from the comedy satire film Bangistan, together with
Benny Dayal and
Neeraj Shridhar. And few more songs like Sooraj Dooba Hain from the romantic film Roy and Touch My Body from the horror film Alone.
Though she was a lesser known face in the industry, the talented belle has already established her name in the music film industry and she continues to soar high on the way to success.
