Star Performances
Jeff Nichols does a fine job in exploring the working of the biker gangs of USA in the early 60s.
The actors also leave a solid impression. Be it Jodie Comer as Kathy, or Tom Hardy as the bike gang leader, every actor packs a solid punch.
Analysis
Biker gangs have been a symbol of resistance and rebellion in the USA.
However, very few filmmakers had the guts to make a complete film around their activities and their ideals. This is where Jeff Nichols delivers a brilliant film in the form of ‘The Bikeriders’. Known for films like ‘Midnight Special’ and ‘ Loving Click to look into! >> Read More... ’, Jeff decided to explore the biker gangs with this movie.
The story starts off well, with a deep insight into how the bike gangs operated, especially during the mid 60s, when USA was going through a serious turmoil, including the impending war with Vietnam. Despite the fact that the film is based on true events, it makes a solid effort into narrating a compelling story, and not become another docudrama.
There is a romantic angle, but it is as important in the film as the camaraderie, as well as the tension in the biker gangs involved. There are a couple of scenes where the director has let the actors do the talking. Some might not be impressed by the over dependence on metaphors, but they thankfully don’t destroy the narrative overall.
The actors have mostly made up for the flaws, if any. Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy have done a fabulous job with the respective roles offered. Even Norman packs a solid punch with his short but impactful character.

‘The Bikeriders’ is a simple but effective insight on the bikers’ gangs in the mid 60s. Jeff Nichols has done a good job with both the script and the direction. The ensemble cast did a fantabulous job with their respective roles. Overall, the film is worth a watch.
