Michael Shannon

Michael Corbett Shannon is an actor and a musician from America. He is known for his tall figure, deep voice and has played eccentric characters. He was born on 7 August 1974 in Kentucky. He graduated from Illinois. Entomologist Raymond Corbett Shannon was his grandfather. Shannon started out as a stage actor in Chicago and eventually landed his first acting job in Winterset.

He appeared in the video of the song House of Pain. Over a course of time, he worked with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Next Lab, Northlight Theatre and contributed to the founding of A Red Orchid Theatre in 1993. He also worked for a year in London’s West End, appearing in Bug, Killer Joe, and Woyzeck. He debuted in films with a role in the 1993 movie Groundhog Day.

He worked in the movie Chicago Cab (1997). Following this, he appeared in movies like Pearl Harbor (2001) and Vanilla Sky (2001). He was the antagonist in Kangaroo Jack (2003). He also starred in Bad Boys II (2003) and Grand Theft Parsons (2003). In 2008, he starred in movie Revolutionary Road, for which he got an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In 2010, he worked in Mistakes Were Made, which was a one-man play.

The play was held in New York City. In 2012, he was the antagonist in two movies. Premium Rush, in which he portrayed a corrupt police official and Man of Steel, in which he was General Zod. His performance in The Iceman was praised by critics. He also made an appearance in ‘Grace’ on Broadway.

Later, he appeared in projects like 99 Homes and Freeheld. In his upcoming movie Elvis & Nixon, he will be playing Elvis Presley while actor Kevin Spacey will portray Richard Nixon. Shannon collaborated with Rob Beitzel and Ray Rizzo to create the band Corporal in 2002. Shannon handles the lyrics and the singing.
