Almost four years have passed since the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc throughout. As the effects subsided, many industries limped back to normalcy. However, it seems that the Tamil film industry has yet to come out of the black hole.

’, none of the films could garner respectable figures.
To make matters worse, February has been a dry spell for Tamil cinema. Not even one film managed to earn beyond 30 crores. Even the much talked about ‘Lal Salaam’, where Rajinikanth appeared in an extended cameo, mustered merely 23 crores worldwide, compared to a budget of around 80 to 90 crore rupees. Even the collections from dubbed releases of Malayalam films like ‘Bramayugam’ and 'Manjummel Boys' were far from enough.
As such, the month of March is extremely crucial for Tamil cinema, if it needs to come out of the mess it is in. Like most other domains, the month of March will have multiple releases.
