Star Performance
Sruthi Hariharan excels in her performance. She beautifully emotes in every occasion and stamps her versatility. The confusion, fear, tension, and sadness are expressed finely by her. Varalaxmi showcases her acting prowess well in her attorney role. Her mannerisms, body language, and dialogue delivery are good, and she proved that she can fit in any kind of role. In fact, she dominates the courtroom scenes. Suhasini plays her part well in the limited screen time. Prakash could’ve performed a bit well. His tone is flat, even in the emotional dialogues. Vidyullekha is good in her primary supporting role. The rest of the actors didn’t shine much.
Analysis
The courtroom drama has a good first half, backed by the performances of the excellent Shruti and Varu. The director should be appreciated for starting it as a courtroom drama. The screenplay is decent with its non-linear pattern, showcasing three timelines. The courtroom dialogues are well-penned, especially that of Varalaxmi. Her excellence, combined with the dialogue, makes the courtroom scenes interesting. However, the director utilized cinematic liberty in a few sequences. The interval block, along with the first half, is completely engaging. The characters are strongly written and helped the performers to hone their performances finely. The cinematography is excellent, especially in the courtroom scenes. The music is not very impressive. The BGM could’ve been better. Though the case looked simple, some scenes looked a bit stretchy. After a few arguments and revelations, we can easily predict the murderer. Though there is a twist, it didn’t work. In the second half, a particular sequence wasn’t executed well, though it may have appeared to be good on paper. Those sequences were rushed up, and the emotions didn’t get conveyed properly.

Verdict
The Verdict is a decent courtroom drama with excellent performances from Sruthi Hariharan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. If the courtroom dialogues had been in Tamil, it might have been better for many!
