Plot
Mugen, who doesn’t succeed in his ambitions, goes to Malaysia in a contract. After the contract gets over, he returns to his hometown. Before starting from Malaysia, he visits a black magician, who gives him a lucky Jinn. It is locked in a treasure box kind, and Mugen was suggested to feed it only during a particular time. Though he gets something good in life, after its arrival, he and his family start experiencing not-so-good things. His grandmother gets affected, and asks him to throw it away. So, he throws it away. What happens next? The rest of the story brings out Jinn’s original face.
Star Performance
Mugen looks good, and also does a good job. Bala Saravanan’s comedy works out. Vinodhini and Vadivukkarasi did their jobs well in the given screen time. Radha Ravi’s screen presence is good, but his role is not impressive. Bhavya is okay in her performance.
Analysis
The film starts on a promising note with good fantasy elements. However, due to a wide range of genres, the film didn’t create the needed impact. It has all the solid ingredients to make it a good supernatural thriller, but weak elements, including VFX, an unorganized screenplay, and a few execution errors, didn’t make it move further. Vadivukkarasi and Vinodhini’s roles should’ve been given some more solid screen time. Despite his effective performance, Radha Ravi didn’t fit well for this role. The cinematography and editing are okay, and the BGM is good.

Despite its shortcomings, Jinn-The Pet has some time-pass elements. If you are interested in supernatural thrillers, you can try this!
