Actors tend to have a lot of influence on people, and this influence may be used for the betterment of people. Such was the thought of many influential actors and they decided to transition from cinemas into the world of politics to actually save lives in the real world and be the hero they were thought to be.
1. ‘N. T. Rama Rao’:
Nanda Moori Taraka Rama Rao is known till date for the service he did for the state when he served three terms as chief minister and had formed the current ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He was the tenth and the first non-Congress Chief Minister of our state.
Chiranjeevi has one of the biggest fan bases and is known for his hard work in the film industry. He created the Praja Rajyam but later on dismissed it to join the Congress party, although he later was elected to Rajya Sabha and held duties as the minister of tourism.
Pawan Kalyan, the brother of Chiranjeevi, had a little clash with his brother regarding political issues and was enraged by the government for the way they split the state with not much delicacy. He launched the Jana Sena Party at the Hyderabad International Convention.
Mohan Babu, one of the most popular actors of his time with many awards at hand, had joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1982 to serve people and justice. Though his plans did not take off well in that field, he returned to the movie industry and is rumoured to rejoin politics.
Harikrishna belongs to the Nandamuri family and is well known for his childhood roles in the 60’s movies. He found the Anna Telugu Desam Party in 1999 but later joined the Telugu Desam Party and was elected for Rajya Sabha and served as minister of transportation in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet.
The versatile actress Vijayshanthi had worked in many language domains such as Tamil and Kannada. She joined the Congress Party for social causes and is the former MLA of Secunderabad.
Kota Srinivasa Rao
Kota Srinivasa Rao is a well appreciated and a versatile actor who also had a history in politics to share with. He is the former MLA of Vijayawada from 1999- 2004 and is a part of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Roja is one of the prettiest actors of her time contributing a lot to the Telugu industry. She now aligns herself with the YSR Congress to serve as a politician, and she won a constituency seat in 2014 from Nagiri.
Jaya Prada who was a beauty of the 90’s is now a politician fighting for social causes. She joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1994. She was a Parliament member from Rampur from 2004-2014.
Vijayashanti is one of the boldest actors of her time and is known for her social work in the south. She had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1998, after which she started her own party, Talli Telangana, in 2009 which was later merged into Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
