Vijayashanti

Vijayashanti, the popular Tamil and Telugu actress was born in Chennai in the year 1966 to Srinivas Prasad and Varalaxmi. She was introduced through the Tamil film, Kallukkul Eeram in the year 1980. Kilaadi Krisnudu was the Telugu movie, in which she debuted. Her aunt Vijaya Lalitha was popular in Tamil and Telugu films in the early 1960s and 1970s. Though she started her career as a normal glamorous heroine, the film Karthavyam made her as an Action heroine. During that time, there were no heroines to do such roles.

The film was a super duper hit and it was also dubbed in Tamil and there too it landed with success. After the success of Karthavyam as a Police officer, Vijayashanti did many films similar to the role of a bold lady Police officer. Police Lockup was one of the successful films in her career. In that film, she did a Police officer role as well as a housewife. This was her first dual role movie and she won the hearts of the audiences with her excellent performance.

By watching her films, many young ladies wanted to become police officers. Vijayashanti impressed people by her wonderful performance through acting, dancing and even through stunts. For her excellent performance in Karthavyam, she was awarded with the National Award for Best Actress. She joined in politics and was the Member of Parliament. At present, she is in the Congress Party.
