“Sin” is a romantic drama series broadcast on Aha. The series focuses on the ill-concept of toxic masculinity and male dominance that affects the whole population, especially women, more than anything. Nandita is portrayed as a young woman who gets separated from her childhood love because of homophobia from her parents, who decide to get her married to Anand. Anand works in the social welfare department. He seems to be the perfect gentleman from the outside but is a rotten pervert. He belongs to that category of people who don’t understand when they should stop or the term consensual. As a result, Nandita suffers at his hands. Abuse and marital rape is common factor in their life. She considers herself weak and helpless and hence suffers silently about it. Her family doesn’t consider her dangerous situation; instead, tell her to keep silent.
On the other hand, Anand pursues Nina, an NRI who works in the same department. Gradually she falls for him, unaware of his perverted persona or that he is already a married man. When Nandita finds out about the affair and his family, they do nothing to help Nandita or stop Anand. Instead, they support Anand in his decision showing that how toxic masculinity can lead to toxic patriarchy in the household. However, regardless of all these situations, there is something that is still going to shock him to his core. Do Nina and Nandita have a history together or what happens when they meet each other for the first time. To know all about it, you’ll have to watch the series.
