Ajay Manthena

Ajay Manthena is an Indian film actor working in the Telugu Film Industry. This 24-year-old dynamic actor is known to the Tollywood industry as “Anand”. This was the name of the character he played in his first movie ‘Nuvvila’. After this film, he took a break for almost a year before signing any other films. He completed his B.Com. After completing his B.Com, Ajay Manthena entered drag racing. In one of those drag races he was spotted by the famous director of Tollywood, who has given several blockbusters. He is none other than Ravi Babu. He approached him with a script thinking that he will be perfect for the role. He liked the script and accepted the offer. He entered into the Tollywood film industry through the film ‘Nuvvila’ co-starring Havish, Prasad Barve, Yami Gautam, Sarayu and Remya Nambeesan and directed by Ravi Babu and produced by Ramoji Rao. Even though it was the first film for all of them, the movie was a blockbuster and was successful in making enough collections at the box-office. Ajay wasn’t satisfied with his performance in the movie ‘Nuvvila’. He thought himself to be an amateur in acting, so he took a break to practice and then returned back to the industry because of the tough competition. Later on, he had acted in ‘Entha Andanga Unnave’ co-starring Jiya, directed by S.I.Mahendra and produced by Gangapatnam Sridhar. This movie went unnoticed and couldn’t add much flavor to his career. He then acted in the movie ‘Gallo Telinattunde’ co-starring Kousalya and directed by D.Venkat Suresh. This movie too couldn’t attract the Tollywood movie lovers. It passed by the box-office unnoticed. This movie also failed to boost up his career. He was the male lead in another movie named ‘O Manasa’ co-starrer Aparnaa Bajpai and directed by an NRI female director B.Sahaja Rao. It was targeted towards youth audience, and they were that successful to attract the youth and it was a blast at the box-office. Apart from the Telugu movies, he also acted in the Tamil movies one among which was directed by Bharati Ganesh. He says Kamal Haasan is his inspiration because he shows variations in his roles in all the movies that he has acted in. He also wanted to play versatile roles so that the audience could find something different in him. Except the first movie ‘Nuvvila,’ none of the others were able to flourish his career as all the others did not reach well at the box-office.
