Oorvambu Lakshmi is an Indian Film and Television Actress. She works in the Tamil Film and Television Industry. Lakshmi was born on the 17th of May. She was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is currently residing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She has a son whose name is Mohan Virat. Lakshmi made her debut as an actress in the Film Industry with the Kollywood film Paarthale Paravasam (2001). K. Balachander is the director of this film. The film has R. Madhavan, Simran, Sneha, Raghava Lawrence, and Vivek in the main roles. Lakshmi worked in more Films like Retta Vaalu (2014), Vil Ambu (2016), and Mannavan Vanthanadi (2017). She also appeared in the TV shows such as Ahalya (2004-2006) on Sun TV, Super Sundari on Kalaignar TV, Sembaruthi (2017 to present) on Zee, Vamsam (2013-2017) on Vision Time Tamil, Veettukku Veedu Looti on Jaya TV, Rajakumari (2018) on Sun TV, and Oorvambu on Raj Television.

Lakshmi’s performance as an antagonist in Sembaruthi impressed the audience. She got an award for her performance at the Zee Tamil awards. In an interview, Lakshmi stated that in serials, only the heroine and the villain roles reach the people well and hence she does villain roles without any hesitation. Lakshmi is an avid book reader. She reads varieties of books in her free time, and also cooking is her hobby. Lakshmi’s career started with Oor Vambu, the Raj TV show. She hosted the political satire show with Neeraja, and it was a super hit. Her performance was admirable in the show, and that’s why the name Oor Vambu is glued to her name. Lakshmi was also a part of the super hit Sun TV serials ‘Kolangal” and Kasthuri. In Kolangal featuring “Devayani” in the lead role, Lakshmi played the role, Rani, wife of Shivadas, played by “Yugendran.” She played a small role in Kasthuri featuring Easwari Rao, Jayakrishnan, Latha Sethupathi and Kavitha Solairaja. Lakshmi acted in the film Middleclass with Mouli and Munishkanth Ramdas. “Kishore M Ramalingam” directed the film. In 2019, Lakshmi appeared in a comedy show, Madras Meter, directed by Jayachandran. Durgesh, Divya, and Vaidhya Sundar hosted the show. Lakshmi took part in the show with Priya Raman, her co-star in Sembaruthi.

She also acted in a television serial such as “Peranbu,” which focuses on the character of Raja Rajeshwari who wants her son Karthik to accept Vanathi as his wife. She is determined that Vanathi is a good woman and right choice for her son. Lakshmi plays the role of Amutha in this serial. It was premiered on 13 December 2021.
