He’s talented, focused and very creative with his work, and has gotten the Tamil and Telugu industry swaying to his beats. He’s none other than Vishal Chandrashekhar, who is a composer and Indian film score. He’s a graduate from Anna Unniversity, with a master’s degree in Electronic Media. He’s the son of actor and producer, Ashok Shekhar, and grandson of Bollywood legend, Chandrashekhar. Vishal was always very interested in music. He was six years old when he started playing the keyboard and began giving solo shows at the age of 10 years. At the age of 11 years, he started doing sequencing and became serious about music. In his 12th grade, he realized that music was everything for him and he should build his life around it. He believes he’s more of an arranger than a composer. He was so determined with music in his life, that at the rotary club functions, he would play music and try to create the original song when everyone else was busy eating, drinking and having a merry time. He’s very good at playing guitar, flute and drums. He has over 300 short films and 172 ad jingles under his name, and was also the best music director for the show, ‘Nalaya Iyakkunar’, on Kalaignar TV. He made his debut as a composer in 2012 in Brindha Das’s ‘Hai Da’. The film still remains unreleased despite of its music release in January 2013 being so grand. He got the golden opportunity to work with Santhosh Sivan on his movie, ‘Inam’. He was to give music for the movie and he did his best. He worked a lot harder to match up to the level of the movie and its quality. Inam was a movie which required him to give hard hitting music. He was so determined to make it successful that he was not able to sleep at night till he achieved what he wanted to. His work was highly appreciated for the background score in the movie. He has also created music for the Telugu movie, ‘Hrudayam Ekkadunnadi’, and a Tamil science-fiction film called ‘Appuchhi Gramam’, whose song ‘En Kannukulle’, became really popular. Both the movies released in 2014. He also gave music for Siddharth’s, ‘Jil Jung Juk’, in which his songs, ‘Shoot the Kuruvi’ and ‘Red Roadu’ became super hits. He is trying to give a shot in Peruvian, Egyptian, Spanish and Mexican kind of music. He believes that to be a good composer it is imperative to change with the changing time and trends. Composing needs a specific space and fresh mind to bring in new tunes. He thinks that saturation after composing music is good as it lets you experiment and stops you from becoming overconfident.
