Erode Sounder is a renowned Indian film director, screenplay and story writer who predominantly worked in Tamil movie industry. He was born in 1957 in Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. Sounder initially started his career in Tamil movie industry as a writer in the Tamil action film, Cheran Pandian in 1991, which became a hit at the box office and won Sounder two state awards, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Dialogue Writer and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Story Writer. The immense success of both the movies, Cheran Pandian and Nattamai, eventually prompted the films to be remade in several languages including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali.
