Shyam Ganesh started acting with Shakti, a long run television series in 1995 which garnered high television ratings for several years. His association with Sun TV that was started with Shakti lasted for 18 years. During those years, he appeared in television series like Shakthi, Annamalai, Ninaivugal, Appa, Pillai Nai, Vasantham and Vamsam among others.
He also starred in several Tamil movies as supporting actor in movies like Anandham, Kadal Pookkal, Dheena, Alli Arjuna, and Youth among others.
