The allergy to criticism is far from over.
Only a month after the makers of ‘Martin’ went too far in responding to the criticism of its film, the Tamil producers have went two steps further. The producers have called for an outright ban on the YouTube reviews livestreamed at theatres.
According to the Tamil Film Active Producers’ Association, the ‘tasteless, hostile’ reviews have had a negative impact on the collection of high profile movies, making it struggle at the box office. Interestingly, ‘Martin’, ‘Kanguva’, and ‘Indian 2’ have one thing in common : none of the films were products of cinematic excellence either. The only notable exceptions to this rule are ‘Devara’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which despite receiving negative reviews from both critics and online reviewers, turned out to be box office hits.
Apart from YouTube reviews, the fans were not impressed with the quality of the films either.
