In the 17th Lok Sabha, Pratap Simha got elected as a member of the Parliament. He was one of the members of the 16th Lok Sabha of India as well. Both times, he was the representative of the Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency of Karnataka, India. At the Mangalore University of Karnataka, he completed his Master's in Communication and Journalism. Later, he explored several world countries, including Australia, Canada, Jordan, Israel, Japan, Palestine, and the UK. On 18th November 2010, Pratap got married to Arpitha J. S. They both have a daughter. He was born to B. E. Gopal Gowda and Smt. Pushpa. Pratap started his career as a Journalist. Later as a trainee, he joined the local newspaper and worked as an editor, and wrote his articles under the column “Bettale Jagattu.”
