Sugganahalli Rudramurthy Shastry is a Kannada novelist and lyricist. He is a prominent personality in the state of Karnataka. He was born on 11 November 1948 in Bengaluru Rural district, Karnataka. His father’s name is SN Shivarudrayya and his mother’s name is Siddagangamma. He completed his early education in rural Bengaluru. He did his MA from Bangalore University, Bengaluru. He has written lyrics, screenplay, and dialogues for various Kannada movies, stories, and biographies. He became popular from the historical drama Gandugali Kumara Rama (movie) in which he wrote the screenplay and dialogues.
His other works include Nala Damayanthi, Vikrama and Bethala, Maha Bharatha. He has also written more than 130 books in which there are 16 poetry works, more than 30 Historical fiction, Social Novels, and various Story collections. His most prominent work is Chanakya (biography of the great Kautilya, popularly known as Vishnugupta) the Prime Minister of the Mauryan King Chandragupta Maurya. His other works include Pari, Chitra Kalpane, Naadroopaka (Poetry), Bheeshma, Chaarudatta, Dharma Chakravarthi Ashoka, Kanakadaasa (Novels).
