Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yediyurappa is a Kannada politician born on 27th February; 1943 in Karnataka, India. He did his higher education at Government College, Mandya, from 1960 to 1961. He got appointed as a first division clerk in the social welfare department in 1965 and later joined Veerbhadra Shashtri’s Shankara rice mill. Since 1970, he was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in his college days and got elected to Shikaripura Town Municipality in 1972. From being the president of this party to being the CM of the state, he led to a historic victory for BJP in south India.
In his political career, he has served as the longest Chief Minister of Karnataka from the Bhartiya Janta Party. He is a member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and has served four times as a CM and three times as the leader of the opposition in the assembly. In July 2022, he announced retirement from politics and insisted his son to lead the upcoming elections from the constituency.
