Ramya Barna is a renowned Kannada film actress. She was born on August 4, 1986, in Kodagu, Karnataka in India. Her father works as RBI’s Assistant General Manager. She studied at Jyoti Nivas College in Bangalore, where she took a Bachelors Degree in Travel and Tourism. She also studied in Mumbai and later started working as Customer Service Executive in Wipro Infotech in Navi Mumbai. She started her acting career in 2008 and took an MBA course at Sikkim Manipal University in 2010. Ramya never thought of becoming an actress. In fact, she declined a film offer from a producer. But her friends told her to try her luck in the glamour industry and accept the offer to play the role of the second heroine in the 2008 Kannada film, Hani Hani. This film marked her debut as a supporting actress. Ramya is still taking her degree while working as an actress. After Hani Hani, she acted with Suraj in Sindesh’ Kannada film, Neenyare. The film failed to make it to the box-office; however, she was recognized as an actress, which led her to bag roles in Yogaraj Bhat’s romantic comedy film, Pancharangi in 2010 and K. Madesh’ Hudugaru, which stars Puneet Rajkumar in the lead role, in 2011. Both films earned her nominations at the Filmfare for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada.
Before the films mentioned above, Ramya made her Telugu debut in the year 2008, through the film, Kshudra and also ventured in the Tamil film, Mathiya Chennai in 2009. In the same year, she acted as Pallavi, a music teacher, in the Kannada film, Nannedeya Haadu. She was also seen in Nee Bandu Nintaaga (2010), where she stated that she had to perform in a song out of compulsion. She was seen in V. Ravichandran-starrer film, Mallikarjuna. She was seen in M. D. Shridhar’s Bulbul in 2013. In 2015, she started shooting for the upcoming Kannada film, Toss, which will feature Sandeep and
in the lead roles. Ramya has also wrapped up the shoot for the film Notorious, alongside in the lead role. She also donned an item number in Doodhsagar, and she is yet to appear in Premaya Namah and another Tulu film entitled Madime.
