Ranya was born in Chikmagalur district which is in Karnataka, India. She is a model and an actress who predominantly acts in South Indian films. She completed her studies in Kodagu and pursued an engineering degree in Bangalore.

She obtained this degree from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. As she wanted to act in movies, she left this college and began learning the art of acting from the Acting Institute, which is situated in Mumbai.

It was at this time that she also began her modeling career. She has a very recent career that started in the year 2014. Her first appearance was in the movie Maanikya, which is a Kannada action drama film. This movie was a remake of Mirchi, which is a 2013 Telugu film. This is the costliest movie to have ever been made in Kannada cinema’s history.

The director and main actor of this film Sudeep signed her on to act opposite him. Her role was that of a rich girl, and she was also a part of the main love story in the movie. However, her role was met with mixed reviews.

The film did run for more than a hundred days in over twelve cinemas which are a great feat for a first-time actress. It was in June of 2015 that she signed on to play a lead role in the movie Wagah. This was the second film of her career and her first role in a Tamil movie.
