Divya Spandana, born on November 29, 1982, known by her film industry name Ramya, is an Indian film actress and also a politician. She finished her schooling at St. Hilda's school in Ooty, and in Sacred Heart School, Chennai, She completed her graduation from St. Joseph's Commerce College, Bangalore. She mostly acts in Kannada movies and also acts in Tamil and Telugu films.

She started her acting career in the film Abhi in 2003, opposite Kannada actor Puneet Rajkumar. She eventually starred in many Kannada films with many famous south Indian lead actors and, following successive commercial box-office hits, established herself as one of the best and most sought after actresses in the film industry. Ramya debuted in the Tamil film industry the film Kuththu in 2004. Her most memorable movies are Ranga S. S. L. C., Excuse Me, Kanti, Amrithadhare, Aakash, Tananam Tananam, Mussanjemaatu etc. She acted in famous Tamil director Gautham Menon's national film award winning movie "Vaaranam Aayiram" opposite actor Surya which made her house hold name in the southern film industry. Based on an online poll, Divya for the movie Sanju Weds Geetha won the Best Actor Female. Divya won Filmfare Best Actress Award twice for her memorable acting in Sanju Weds Geetha and Tananam Tananam films. She also won Best Actress Award for the movie Sanju Weds Geetha in by the Karnataka State.

Divya entered politics in 2011, by joining the Indian Youth Congress. She was elected as a Member of Parliament from Mandya constituency in 2013 after winning the by-election and she became the youngest Member of Parliament in India.

With her screen name as Ramya, Divya Spandana is the golden girl in Kannada cinema. She also has acted in 45 films in different languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. She is highly popular and in demand for her roles in Kannada films; there have been many ups and downs in her career, as she lost the general election as a Congress candidate and even she lost her role to Radhika once when she was first approached to do heroine role in Appu starring Puneet Rajkumar. While being the most sought after actress in Kannada cinema, she forayed into politics and she was the youngest Member of Parliament having won from Mandya constituency. She is busy now in uplifting the farmers’ condition in Mandya district and submitted a report to Rahul Gandhi.

After she got active in politics, she lessened her work and remained occupied with her constituency work and she is no longer interested in doing running behind the trees character. She looks forward to doing some meaningful roles which will be considered as a strong female movie character in the region. 

The actress who was repeatedly cast with her stage name Ramya in all her films had once virtually experimented her luck with her first name Divya for Gautham Menon’s 2008 release Vaaranam Aayiram, which brought her luck. She got a chance to act opposite Dhanush in a Tamil film Polladavan and got huge acclaim. She is one of the most beautiful and spontaneous actress in sandalwood region. Prema is a famous South Indian Actress who was born on 6 January 1977 in Bangalore. She has acted in several Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies. She has acted with many top actors in the South namely Dr.Vishnuvardhan, Ravichandran, Shiva Rajkumar, Upendra, Ramesh Aravind, Dr. Mohanlal. She also acted in a movie with Raghavendra Rajkumar, younger brother of Shivarajkumar, named ‘Aata Hudugaata’ in the same year. Though these movies were not a major hit, she received another role as the lead in the movie ‘Om’ directed by the famous director Upendra. This movie was the biggest hit and Prema received many good reviews for her performance in the movie. After the success of this movie, she was very much in demand and many directors wanted to offer her the lead role in their movies.   She got married to Jeevan Appachu in 2006 as per the kodava customs and traditions. After marriage, she has acted only in a few movies. She does not seem to be interested in the regular roles that are being offered to her. At present she is leading a happy married life with her husband.
