Meghana Gaonkar is an actress from the South Indian film industry, mainly known for her works in Kannada films. She is well known for her role in the Filmfare Award-nominated film, ‘ Charminar’ which came out in the year 2012. Meghana Gaonkar was born on 8th May in the year 1985. She was born in her mother’s hometown, the city of Gulbarga located in the state of Karnataka. She completed her higher secondary education from Sharanbasaveshwara Residential School situated in the city of Gulbarga. She later moved to Bangalore and joined Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College to pursue graduation and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in her desired subject which was commerce.

After graduation, she joined Bangalore University to do her Master in English Literature. Meghana did not stop her educational journey there as she went to Adarsha Film and TV Institute and gained a diploma for film making and acting. Her younger years were filled with modeling and beauty pageants. In the year 2003, she contested and won the crown of Miss Garden City, Bangalore and also the crown of Miss Beautiful Smile. From there, she was offered the job of hosting various television shows in major Kannada television channels. Some of the shows that gained her popularity and recognition were, Preethiya Kannadiga, Star Dish Dishum and Kuniyona Baara, etc.

She made her entry in the 2010 release film, ‘Nam Areali Ondina’ and played the role of ‘Chinnu’. Her performance in her debut film got the attention of film maker V. Nagendra Prasad and cast her in his 2011 movie, ‘Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga’ alongside actors such as Vijay Raghavendra and Naveen Krishna, etc. In the year 2013, she was cast in R. Chandru’s romance and drama packed ‘Charminar’. She was cast as ‘ Radha’ opposite Prem Kumar who played the role of ‘ Mohana’.

Before becoming an actress she was a faculty at Shiamak Davar’s Institute for Performing Arts and has performed at many prestigious events including the closing ceremony of Melbourne’s Common Wealth Games in the year 2006. She was also an active theater artist and did multiple plays in different languages before becoming a TV personality.

M V Rajamma, yesteryear Indian actress, was the beloved mother of Tamil cinema. She essayed mother roles to such perfection that one cannot but appreciate her sincere effort. Born on 24th April 1923, M V Rajamma is the first woman producer in India. She is a versatile actress and has worked as both mother and heroine to South Indian top notch actors, including Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, NTR and Rajkumar. Hailing from Agandanahalli in Tamil Nadu, Rajamma completed her studies till the 8th standard, and later got fascinated towards theater and stage plays. Eventually she moved to Chennai with the idea of working in movies. M V Rajamma worked in several films of Kannada superstar Rajkumar, as his mother. She has worked in most of the ventures of B R Panthulu. Along with him, she got herself involved in stage through Chandrakala Natak Mandali. The 1935 flick Samsara Nouka was her debut film, and Rajamma basked in the glory of feature films in South India. The 1943 flick Radha Ramana was under her production banner, Vijaya Films. This flick worked well at the box office, which motivated Rajamma to produce another film named Makkala Rajya in 1960. Uthama Puthiran is her first film in Tamil and it was a great hit. She worked in 80 Tamil, 60 Kannada, 1 Hindi and 20 Telugu films and became a successful actress down south. Post marriage Rajamma focused mainly on motherly characters and became the onscreen mother to heroes with whom she worked as heroine initially.The notable films of Rajamma as a lead actress include Rathnagiri Rahasya, Bhakta Prahalada, Abba Aa Hudugi and School Master. Rajamma worked on various good roles in dramas like Gauthama Buddha, Subhadra and Samsara Nouke. Samsara Nouke was recreated as a movie in 1935, and Rajamma was the lead actress in that film too. Panthulu was her co-star and they went on to act together in several movies for over 2 decades.


Milana Nagaraj

Milana Nagaraj is a South Indian actress born in 1989. Her birthplace is Hassan, a district in Karnataka. She took her school education and college education in Hassan itself. She’s a bachelor in Computer Science. She did her engineering from VKIT College, Bangalore. From her childhood, she was a good swimmer. In an interview with Times of India, she said that shewas a state-level backstroke swimmer and has won several medals. Her parents put her in the pool when she was just about four to five years old. Since then, swimming had become her life. But in Class 12, everything changed. Just months before her board exams, Milana met with an accident. An SUV rammed into her two-wheeler and knocked her off it. The bone in her leg was very badly broken. She needed a rod and screws to fix the bone. Due to this disaster, Milana was unable to swim. Then she decided to focus on academics instead. She attended her exams with the help of a walker. Surprisingly, she did well in her exams and got selected for engineering. With such a degree in her hand, she could’ve got a job easily. But working in a software company from 9 to 5 was not what she wanted. She was still trying to figure out what to do next. Then, some of her friends suggested her, to participate in Miss Karnataka contest. She didi have a good athlete body.Thanks to her earlier swimming days. So she thought to give it a try and participated in the contest. Tough she didn’t win the competition; she did win the “Miss Best Personality” title. This was the point when she was introduced to the fame world. From then onwards, she started getting offers for Kannada Films. Thus happened “Nam Duniya Nam Style”, her first film. Though her first film didn’t do well, she got the work with some of the experienced superstars like Darshan and Karthika, in Brindavana, her second film. She worked opposite Darshan Thoogudeepa in Brindavana. Even though she’s in the sparkling film line, she does feel sad about not becoming a swimmer.
