While everyone wants their favorite movie performance to win all the awards at the ceremonies, that is rarely the case in Bollywood. Bollywood is infamous for giving awards to celebrities who show up and perform on the stage. It is rarely the case when those who genuinely deserve an award win it. Sometimes when the winners get announced, it just leaves everyone in shock and disbelief. Today we look at some of the most undeserving awards given to Bollywood actors.
Bollywood often awards star kids for their debuts, however bad their performance may be. The same was the case at Filmfare Awards 2016 when the award for Best Male Debut was awarded to Sooraj Pancholi for Hero. The same year a cinematic masterpiece like Masaan was released, and we witnessed Vicky Kaushal’s powerful performance. Vicky deserved the award, which unfortunately went to Sooraj for his dreadful performance in the terrible film Hero.
Tusshar Kapoor played a mute character in Golmaal Returns and won the Stardust Award For Best Actor In A Supporting Role in 2009. We are speechless at how Bollywood can just give out awards to such awful performances. The same year we had performances like Deepak Dobriyal Deepak Dobriyal is a talented theater and film act >> Read More... in Shaurya and Sonu Sood Sonu Sood is a famous Indian Cinema actor, model w >> Read More... in Jodhaa Akbar Click to look into! >> Read More... , it is baffling that the award went to the weakest contender.
There is no doubt that Shah Rukh Khan is a talented actor, which he has proven from his many iconic performances, be it Devdas, Swades, or My Name Is Khan. But he doesn’t deserve an award for his every film role. The Star Screen Awards awarded him the Best Actor in the Popular Category three times for his worst films of the previous decade, being Chennai Express, Happy New Year, and Dilwale. Star Screen Awards loves SRK unconditionally.
Dhoom 2 is a stylish action heist film that audiences love. Everyone enjoyed seeing Hrithik in different outfits and performing heists. While his performance was good, it wasn’t as incredible that it went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 2007. Hrithik’s performance came nowhere close to the legendary performances of Aamir Khan Aamir Khan or Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan is Bolly >> Read More... in the iconic Rang De Basanti Click to look into! >> Read More... and Sanjay Dutt July 29, 1959, was the day when the two legends of >> Read More... in Lage Raho Munna Bhai. While people still enjoy K3G today, with its lavish sets, beautiful locations, and memorable songs, the performances in this family drama don’t quite hold up. Kajol’s performance wasn’t nearly as good that it went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 2002. While the same year, we witnessed Tabu’s powerful and jaw-dropping portrayal of a bar dancer in Chandni Bar. Tabu was the apparent winner, and she was poorly snubbed.
Arbaaz Khan appeared in a negative role in the film Daraar where he plays an obsessive lover. For his part, Arbaaz won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role at the 1997 awards. Arbaaz’s acting was good, but it wasn’t as good as the other nominees in the category. The same year we had nominees like Naseeruddin Shah Naseeruddin Shah is an experimental actor and asso >> Read More... for Chahat and Miling Gunaji for Fareb.
Prem Aggan was one of the worst films of 1999, and Fardeen Khan’s performance was cringy and utterly terrible. Still, as a star kid, he bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in 1999. Fardeen now himself calls his performance in Prem Aggan ‘‘horrible” and says it left him with no work. We can all agree with him.
It is clear to the audience now that Ananya Pandey cannot act, and neither could she at the time of her debut Student of The Year 2 in 2019. However, her terrible performance still bagged her the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Female in 2020. On the other hand, we saw performances like Geetika Vidya Ohlyan Geetika Vidya Ohlyan is an Indian film industry ac >> Read More... and Saloni Batra Saloni Batra is an Indian film and television indu >> Read More... in the masterpiece Soni. Both actresses gave such raw and beautiful performances, and it is a joke that they weren’t even nominated.
Esha Deol’s debut in Bollywood was with the film Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, which was a crap fest. It received negative reviews from critics and the audience alike, and it was a disaster at the box office. Tusshar Kapoor proved that he had no acting skills right from his debut when he delivered a horrible and cringy performance in the terrible film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, which was torture for the audience. But still, being the son of a Bollywood veteran, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in 2002. The same year, R. Madhavan also debuted with his film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, which remains as memorable as ever.
