Friedrich Christian Anton Lang is a German and Austrian screenwriter, actor, producer, and filmmaker. He was born on 5th of December in 1890. His birthplace was Vienna, Austria. He is the son of Pauline Lang and Anton Lang. Anton was a construction industry manager and architect. His parents followed Moravian ascent. His parents were orthodox and always wanted Fritz to follow their religion, Catholic. He used to have themes of Catholic in his movie. Then, he announced himself as born Catholic. He studied at the Technical University of Vienna. He pursued civil engineering and then learned the art.
In 1910, he moved to Vienna to travel to Africa and Europe. Later, he journeyed a tour to Asia and the areas of Pacific Ocean. In 1913, in Paris, he attended classes to learn to paint. In the times of World War, he took training of military service in the Austria. Then, he fought in Romania and Russia during the world war. In 1918, he left the army with the post of Lieutenant before his name. Fritz worked as a director from 1918 in several studios. Some of them were Ufa and Nero-Film. In 1920, he met Thea von Harbou. She was a writer and actor. Later, she married to Fritz.
Fritz used to co-write for many pictures. One of his credits is Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler. It had its story length of four hours. Then, in 1924, he came with a five-hour long cinema named Die Nibelungen. Another famous was 1927’s Metropolis, and 1929’s Woman in the Moon. He made his first talkable movie titled M. In 1932, he started making The Testament of Dr. Mabuse. In Hollywood, he contracted with MGM studios. He had his first American crime based drama entitled as Fury. Spencer Tracy starred in it. In 1939, he became a citizen of the United States.
At the age of 20, he had done twenty-three acts. One of his famous photoplays was The Big Heat. Others were 1956’s While the City Sleeps and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. Later, Artur Brauner made a sequel to Lang’s The Indian Tomb. He came back to Germany to make its remake. Coming to his personal life, he married to Lisa Rosenthal in 1919. Then, he engaged to Thea Von Harbou in 1922. They separated in 1933. Later, he had a relationship with Lily Little. He died in 1976. He had buried in the Forest Lawn of the Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles in the United States.
