Sophie Aldred is an English actress, a voice-over artist, and an author. She has worked mainly in children's television shows as a voice-over artist. She was born on 20th August 1962 in Greenwich in London and raised in Blackheath. She attended High School from 1973 to 1980. She studied at the Victoria University of Manchester and Blackheath and graduated in 1983. Sophie married actor Vince Henderson on 12 July 1997. She has two children, one of them is Adam John Henderson, born on the 10th February 2000. She got her fame and name by acting in a program called Doctor Who.
Sophie has worked mainly on TV and showcases her talents as an actor and singer on stage. In 1992 she was starred in More than a Messiah, one of the videos in the series The Stranger, starring Colin Baker. She presented Corners, Melvin and Maureen's Music-a-grams, Tiny and Crew, and BBC's series Words and Pictures. This show ran in the late 90s and early 2000s. She even performed a paranormal show- It's a Mystery in 1996. Aldred has performed and sang in various BBC school radio series, including singing together, music studio, time and tunes, and music box. She has also played on radio and theatre.
Throughout the 2000s, she worked extensively as an announcer for TV commercials and also dubbed animation sequences such as the Builder Bob, Sergeant Stripes, and the British dubbed animated version. Australian TV's CGI series of Bananas in Pyjamas, El Nombre, Peter Rabbit, Noddy in Toyland, Magic Key, and Dennis and Gnasher. Aldred co-authored the hardcover non-fiction book Ace with Mike Tucker, Inside Story of the End of the Era, published by Virgin Press in 1996. Aldred voiced the 2009 series Dennis and Gnasher, including the protagonist Dennis Threat. She also hosted the 1996 CITV Saturday Morning Magazine show WOW! Since 2012 Aldred has dubbed Tom in the Tree Fu Tom of the CBeebies series.
In 2018, it was confirmed that Aldred would do the role of Ace in an audio series in the first season of Class. In 2019, Aldred retold the role of Ace in the special trailer for the Blu-ray box of the 26th season of "Doctor Who". In the same year, she also played the role of Mistress Na in the DVD movie "The Demon Seed of Arodor," a role for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the Accolade Competition in 2020. In 2020, Aldred released the novel "Doctor Who: The End of Childhood."
