John Neville was a popular actor and theatre artist based in Canada. He was born as John Reginald Neville in Willesden, London. He studied at the Chiswick and Willesden County Schools for Boys. John learned acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He became a member of Old Vic Company, London. In 1948, he did television movies- ‘Scenes from the Twelfth night and Macbeth I and II,’ ‘Mrs. Dot’ and ‘The Two Gentlemen of Verona.’ In 1955, he started doing television series. He played the character of Paul Gardiner in ‘ITV Television house’ and Ejlert Loveborg in ‘ITV Television Playhouse.’ After that, he did BBC Sunday Night Theatre, The world our stage, Half hour story, Company of five and the DuPont show of the month.

John featured in films such as ‘A Study In Terror’, ‘Unearthly Stranger’, ’Oscar Wilde’, ’I Like Money’, ’Billy Budd’, and ‘Adventures of Gerard.’ In 1972, he moved to Canada to continue theatre. ‘Omnibus’, ‘ Love Story ‘Love Story’ was a series that was telecast on SAB >> Read More... ’, ‘The Protectors’, ’Thirty minutes theatre’, ’Second City Firsts’, ‘Riel’, ‘The Great Detective’, ‘Titans’, ‘The Lives of Benjamin Franklin’ and ‘Screen Two’ were among the TV series and movies he did in Ontario.

In 1988, John acted in the movie ‘The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.’ He essayed the role of Hieronymus Karl Frederick Baron Von Munchausen. The film was a milestone in his career. It was nominated for four Oscars. The appreciation fetched him multiple roles on television and films. John also worked for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Canada.

He featured in TV series- ‘Grand’, ‘Johann’s Gift to Christmas’, ’E.N.G’, ‘Avonlea’, ‘By Way of Stars.’ His next influential role was in 1998 in the movie ‘The X-Files’. He received a Gemini Award nomination for his role in TV series- ‘Emily and the New Moon.’ John had a devoted career spanning six decades. His contribution to Television has been instrumental.

In 2003, he directed the television movie ‘Control factor.’ He did cameo roles for a number of short films.  With 100’s of contribution to his, credit John is one classic actor that the industry witnessed. He was credited as the ‘Man of theatre.’ He died at the age of 86 in Toronto. He has six children and six grandchildren.
