Fatma Esin Eden was born on August 7, 1935, in Brussels. And she is a Turkish stage actress, cookbook author, and translator.
Eden finished primary school at isli Terakki High School and secondary at the American College for Girls (ACG). She began acting in high school and performed in several plays like A Midsummer Night's Dream (1946), The 7 Poets of Ifshan (1950), Our City (1951), I Remember my Mother (1952), Heritage (1954), and many more. After graduating from high school, she began acting as an amateur in Haldun Dormen's Pocket Theatre for the first time.Â
Eden studied French Philosophy at Istanbul University for a year in 1958. She then traveled to America on a Fulbright scholarship. In 1960, Eden acted in the play 'Brigadoon' at the University of Kansas, where Eden also earned her Master's degree in "Speech and Drama" in 1961. Eden began her professional acting career at the Oralolu Theatre once she returned to Turkey. In 1963, she got transferred to Dormen Theater, where Eden played in several plays and In 1964, Eden married Hilm Yavuz, a journalist, writer, and poet, and moved to London. In London, she studied Art history for a year and the Russian language for two years. Esin, who speaks English fluently and French intermediately, returned to Turkey in 1969. Their son, Ali Hikmet, was born in 1971 and, their daughter Mer Emre was born in 1972.
Eden, who began working at BP as a translator in 1970. Translated books like Hite report, Sexuality in our Brains, Alice B. Toklas cookbook, Country of Taste, Corn and Biscuit Man, and many others. After leaving BP in 1985, she returned to stage acting in the same year with the picture Goodbye Istanbul at Ali Poyrazolu Theatre. Esin returned to Haldun Dormen Theatre in 1988 and performed in many plays.
Eden has appeared in several films, television series, and commercials since 1987. The list is as follows:-
