Akbar Gbajabiamila is an American football player. He was born of 6th May 1979 in Los Angeles, California. His full name is Akbar Oluwakemi-Idowu Gbajabiamila. His first name Akbar means the greatest in Arabic, Oluwakemi means "God blessed me" and Idowu means "born after twins" in Yoruba. He is a native of Nigeria and both his parents were Muslim. Later his mother adopted Christianity. Akbar’s mother died in a car accident in 2002 and his father is suffering from Parkinson's disease. Akbar got married and has four kids. He as a child, was very king and grew up to be a very generous person. He has several charity organizations under him. He is a member of board of the organization Asomugha Foundation which gives opportunity to several poor children to study.
He is also a board member of the Michael J. Fox Foundation which research on how to prevent Parkinson’s disease. Akbar did his schooling from Crenshaw High School. As a student, he started playing basketball and has been a pro player from the beginning with a lot of hard work and dedication. He has won state championship in 1996 and 1997. With his amazing sports skills, he got scholarships from Oregon University, University of California, Berkeley, San Diego State, Fresno State, and Colorado State for his higher studies. He served as Defensive end / Linebacker in his team.
