Sunil Sadarangani, a producer and writer from Los Angeles born in Mumbai, began his film career with MTV Networks in India. For more than 15 years, he has traversed the globe making fiction movies and documentaries with teams from the US, India, Sweden, Germany, Lebanon, France, Australia, and the UK. One of his most notable accomplishments was working as a producer for three of the 15-part documentary series "World Religions," when he obtained the Dalai Lama's exclusive one-hour interview and the uncommon authorization to film at The Golden Temple. His other accomplishments include the films "September Tapes" (First Look Media) and the several award-winning " The Answer Click to look into! >> Read More... ," as well as the internationally televised documentaries "Bollywood Extras" and "India Pa Vag" (Swedish National Television), to name a few.
In Transit (a Shorts International and Oscar nomination qualification), Blind, Nova, and With You are just a few of his award-winning short films. He is the Ojai Short Film Festival's co-founder and director of programming. Weekends and Period. End of Sentence, two films that were part of the 2018 festival's lineup, both received Oscar nominations; the latter won the 2019 Oscar for Best Documentary Short. Over 200 films were received for the 2019 Ojai Short Film Fest, and Sadarangani and his programming team narrowed those down to 68 official selections—39 in competition and 29 outside of competition. The AMC Networks/Sundance TV original "This Close" won the audience choice award for best season two episode. Sadarangani is also in charge of operations, outreach, media, and PR. At prestigious film festivals and industry award ceremonies like Sundance, Tribeca, LA Film Festival, Cocoa French Film Festival, Indie Spirit Awards, and the Academy Awards, he has received official accreditation as a writer covering film and digital media.
Sunil is a Senior Assistant Programmer of the Los Angeles Indian Film Festival, Outfest, and was most recently invited to serve on the jury of the 2019 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival. The California State Senate has honored Sunil for his continued dedication to originality and innovation in the Los Angeles area. At the 2011 LA Web-Series Festival, he received the Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Web Series for Bollywood To Hollywood. He was nominated for Best Short Short and Concept for a Short at the 2011 Golden Door International Film Festival in Jersey City for "In Transit." Additionally, he won Best Actor at the 2012 Angeleno Film Festival in Los Angeles for the short film "In Transit."
