Pascal Caucheteux is an award-winning French film producer, who produces both French and English language films. Born in Metz, France on 27th March 1961, Pascal grew up with interest in auteur cinema. Starting out independently, he soon collaborated with his financial partner Gregoire Sorlat, to start their production company called “Why Not Productions” in 1990. The first movie made under this banner was the French 1990 film “La Sentinelle”, which went to receive numerous accolades in different categories, including the Prix Georges-Sadoul and the Cesar Award.
He went on to produce films like “The Birth of Love”, “The Bear”, “The Phantom Heart”, “My Sex Life… Or How I Got into an Argument”, “Regarde-Moi”, “Louis & Frank”, “Night Wind”, “The Magnet”, “All About Love”, etc. His 2012 production “Granny’s Funeral” was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The film received positive reviews with an 89% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He was also a co-producer of the 2016 Romanian film “Graduation”, which got a nomination for the Palme d’Or at The Cannes Film Festival. His most acclaimed work, however, in recent times is “ Dheepan Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, which came out in 2015. The film was inspired byPersian Letters. It is based on the civil war that happened in Sri Lanka and revolves around the lives of three Tamilians, who escape to France to seek refuge.
The film received massive critical appraisal besides a 90% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating and 77 out of 100 scores on Metacritic. As a result, it went on to win the Palme d’Or Best Director Award. In 2015, the prequel to his earlier production “My Sex Life” released. It was screened at Cannes and won the SACD Prize, in addition to the prestigious Cesar Award for Best Director. This film also got Pascal the Prix Daniel Toscan du Plantier, for his outstanding contribution to cinema.
In 2016, another venture of his as a co-producer was released in the form of “Jackie”. The movie revolved around the 1963 assassination of former American President Jack Kennedy and the aftermath that ensued, from the perspective of the former First LadyJackie Kennedy, portrayed by Natalie Portman She was considered to be a gifted actress of Holly >> Read More... . The movie was up for 3 Oscar nominations including Best Actress (for Portman). Pascal has also been a recipient of 2 BAFTA Awards and 3 Etoile d’Or Awards.
Besides cinema, Pascal also follows football and is a fan of Paris Saint-Germain FC. He is known for his calm demeanor and discreet manner. He currently lives with his fiancé and three children. As of 2017, he has several productions in the pipeline. He is also presently serving as a member of the jury and a professor at La Femis in Paris.
