Iain Canning

Iain Canning is an Oscar-winning, 36 years old British film producer, who won the Academy Awards for Best Picture in 2011, for his 2010 film ‘The King’s Speech’. Canning, who was born on 23rd July, 1979, grew up in Bristol, and received higher education at Filton College and Cardiff University. As a young boy, he grew up nurturing his love for the world of the movies, and set his mind on turning his passion into a career. He broke into the industry with a runner's job with Renaissance Films in London, where he spent the next few years working up the ranks. It was there that he worked on his first King George film (Alan Bennett's The Madness of King George), as the tea boy.

Canning was the executive producer of the 2007 film ‘Control’ and the 2008 film ‘Hunger’, before co-founding See-Saw Films. Control won a BAFTA Carl Foreman Award in 2007, and also received an honorary mention Caméra d'Or in the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Hunger, on the other hand, won the Caméra d'Or award for first-time filmmakers at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, the Sydney Film Prize at the Sydney Film Festival, Grand Prix of the Belgian Syndicate of Movie Critics, best picture from the Evening Standard British Film Awards, one BAFTA award, and six awards at the 2009 IFTAs.

Canning is also the executive producer of the British TV show ‘Banished’, which was first aired in 2015.
