The film was a huge success all over the world. In 2011 they released their second movie Hop. It was directed by Tim Hill. In 2012 they released the film Lorax. In 2013 they released the sequel to Despicable me titled Despicable me 2. In 2015 they released the film Minions which featured minions. NBC Universal then said they wanted to buy Dreamworks Animation on 28 April 2016. They purchased the competing studio for 3.8 billion dollars.
Chris Meledandri then looked after Dreamworks and Illumination Entertainment. He is a representative of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is also a representative of trustees board of The Hotchkiss School, Lakeville in Connecticut. Chris Meledandri married Leslie and he has two sons.
