From a fashion model to a BAFTA award winner, Rene Marie Russo has come a long way. She was born on 17th February 1954 in Burbank, California, United States. Her parents were simple workers who worked hard to run their home. Her father, Nino Russo, who was a car mechanic, left her mother, Shirley, a barmaid, her sister, Toni and her when she was just two years old. Her mother did all she could to give her children a decent life.
She attended Burroughs High school but dropped it when she was in tenth grade to help her family. She also did work at an eyeglass factory and as a movie cashier. She is an American beauty. She was signed up by Ford Modeling Agency and started her career as a fashion model in 1970s, during which, she appeared multiple times on the cover pages of Vogue and Cosmopolitan magazines. In the 1980s, she got a golden chance to turn her career towards acting and since then, she has never looked back.
In the 1990s, she starred in many of the heavily budgeted flicks. She debuted on television with a short- lived ABC television series, Sable. She is also a producer and director side by side being an actress. She did small theater roles in theaters of California and Los Angeles. ‘Major League’ was her debut movie which came in 1989. She played the part of Frigga in two super hit Thor movies (2011 and 2013) and in 2014, she garnered a lot of appreciation. Rene’s sister Toni got married to lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1980s, and the two sisters featured together in a video for a solo song by Taupin in 1987.
